In the week ending July 9, prices in Asia fell again, with Southeast Asia and China down by $15/mt each week, to $1,190/mt FOB China, while China was down by $15/mt, to $1,290/mt FOB China. China's offers for July and August loadings dropped to $1,200-1,220/mt. However, sources say that Asian demand was difficult to meet, particularly from India. This is due to low buying ideas. Sources said that even selling ideas as low as $1200/mt were not feasible as Indian buyers wanted cargoes priced at $1,220/mt CIF West Coast India. Even if cargo was available for $1,200/mt from China, freight costs to India would not cover the price. A trade was heard in Taiwan for 1,000 mt MMA at about $1,150/mt F.O.B.
