The price of Asian MTBE increased in line
with the rises in crude oil. FOB
Singapore MTBE prices increased by $40/mt per day to $939/mt, on May 18. The July ICE Brent crude futures contract rose $2.25/b at
4:30 pm Singapore time from the previous Asian closing price of $76.71/b. Sources claim that MTBE demand in Singapore is stable,
despite buyers not being in a rush to buy the blendstock because of the weak
gasoline demand in Southeast Asia. A
trader stated that the gasoline demand in Southeast Asia has not been as strong
as expected this month. There was no real demand heard on the gasoline market
and the MTBE markets have seen a low level...
