As buyers waited for a clearer direction of
the market, the Asian propylene markets remained steady on June 7. The August ICE Brent crude
futures contract, which closed at $75.94/lb in Asia on June 6, was $0.77/b
higher by 4:30 pm Singapore time. The
propylene price was not supported by the higher crude oil prices. CFR China propylene stable on the day at $760/mt on June 7,
while the Asian polypropylene-propylene spread stood at $60/mt, well below the
typical breakeven level of $150/mt. LCY
Chemical, owned by Unv1, restarted their 400,000 mt/year PP factory in
