Market participants reported that a rise in freight rates from Asia had put pressure on the prices of spot polypropylene in West Coast South America during the week ending February 12. This was despite a continued weak demand. Source: "Even though we now are seeing the increased freight from Asia, which will reflect in the prices," we still see some low-price offers coming from China. On Feb. 12, homopolymer prices in Asia reached $1,060/mt, CFR WCSA. This is a significant increase from the $1,000/mt price levels that were seen at the start of the week.
