Trading activity in the European naphtha
markets on February 27 was restricted due to market participants taking part in
London's International Energy Week. The Market
on Close evaluation process did not register any trades, offers, or bids on the
day. Market sources indicated that the EU sanctions
against Russia had a major impact on supply. This was especially true as
gasoline blenders switched to a spring/summer specification. Sources
said that the discount for naphtha to gasoline was still low, which indicates
strength in the naphtha market especially from a blend perspective. The
front-month CIF NWE naphtha Swap discount to the equivalent gasoline swap was
down $5.25/mt at 75.25/mt February 27. Arbitrage
