The Asian acetic acids prices were steady in the week ending May 2, despite the low trading volume, as China observed the Labor Day holiday from May 1-5. The price of May-loading FOB China cargoes was a little different from the previous week, at $380/mt. This was on April 30. A trader stated that "preholiday stocking was already done." Some market sources claimed that the availability of cargoes FOB China destined for India, loaded in May, was very limited. Some market sources disagreed and said they could offer May-loading cargoes FOB China, but pointed out that some sellers may have overcommitted export volumes for April in their discussions with buyers.
