China's AA stocks fall by 1.35% in a week / Downstream turnarounds in China dampen demand for VAM / CFR Northeast Asia ethylene prices drop $10/mt on week

In Asia, AA/VAM prices were largely unchanged in the week ending June 6, despite ongoing and imminent plant turnarounds as well as modest inventories. Meanwhile, ample vinyl acetate supply in China coupled with a sluggish demand at home dictated price trends for VAM. According to data provided by Chinese information provider JLC, China's acetic-acid inventory fell 1.35% in the past week and reached 135,800 mt on June 5. According to market sources, the current stock levels of acetic acid in China do not put any export pressure on Chinese producers. "Domestic Prices are Relatively Good." "Exporting is the last resort for [acetic] acid manufacturers", a trader stated. India's ex-tank acetic acids prices were lower, with offers around Rupee 36/kg heard at Kandla Port.
