Limited availability of February-loading AA Cargoes / Chinese VAM prices rise Yuan 50/mt due to tight supply

In a week of thin trading, Asian vinyl monomer and acetic acid prices remained mostly unchanged. The February-loading of acetic acids was heard tightly in China. Sellers held onto offers of $350/mt F.O.B. China. On Feb. 6, domestic prices in Jiangsu were rangebound between Yuan 2,750-2850/mt, or $333-345/mt based on import parity. Prices for AA FOB China were stable week-on-week at $345/mt, while east China prices remained the same over the same time period at Yuan 2,800/mt. Celanese Nanjing's acetic-acid plant, which produces 1.2 million mt per year, was restarted on February 5. The AA plant was taken offline by the acetyls manufacturer on January 26 to undergo a planned turnaround.
