AA plant unplanned outages in Asia drive prices higher / VAM market stable due to unchanged demand

US Gulf Coast acetic Acid at $745/mt, FOB USGC on April 18, an increase of $5 over the previous week. This is in line with the recent increases in Asian markets. The increase was due to higher Asian feedstock prices and reduced production caused by unplanned plant outages. The Celanese Corporation AA Plant in Nanjing was shut down due to technical problems. Shanghai Wujing Chemical (a subsidiary of Shanghai Huayi Group) shut down its 450,000 mt/year plant on April 17th for 12 days to perform maintenance. AA FOB China was assessed at $375/mt on April 18, an increase of $5 from the previous week. AA FD prices in Europe were assessed at Eur690/mt on April 18, a steady week-over-week price.
