Fundamentals in Asia's AA Market are stable / Low operating rates among China’s coal gas-based VAM manufacturers

The price of Asian acetic acids was unchanged in the week ending February 13, but VAM prices increased due to tight supply in China. The same as the previous week, China heard offers at $350/mt for cargoes loading in March. Deals were made at $335 to $350/mt. Domestic cargo discussions were similar to the previous week at Yuan 2,750-2.870/mt (ex-tank) Feb. 13 or $333-348/mt based on import parity. The price of AA FOB China was stable week-over-week at $345/mt. East China AA prices remained the same over the same time period at Yuan 2,800/mt. Low production rates by coal and gas-based producers of VAM in Asia have led to a shortage of cargoes on the domestic market.
