US spot polypropylene exports were at a lower level of activity during the week ending June 5. FAS Houston prices remained unchanged from one week earlier, while domestic contracts settled for a lower price in May. During the period May 30 to June 5, homopolymer railcar indications of value ranged between 50 and 51 cents/lb. PP suppliers' offers were very thin. Several producers were reported to be having operational problems or to have been considered offline. One producer is expected to reenter the market in this month. Exports in mid-Q2 were fragmented. Some buyers in the Americas were willing to pay more than 50 cents per pound to meet immediate needs. The demand for US-origin PP has increased as the freight rates from Asia have made Asian-origin PP less competitive....
