Weak demand for US spot polyvinylchloride pushed prices lower in the week leading up to August 28. Buyers waited to hear about September loading offers. The spot pricing was in decline all of August. According to the latest assessment, on Aug. 28, there had been a fall of $70/mt since July 31. The US Gulf's excess inventory has been matched with a weak export demand to create an imbalance in supply and demand. The impact of new European tariffs on US PVC and the monsoon season currently underway in India on PVC demand has been felt by the US Gulf.
