USGC Styrene monomer: Prices remain stable as the spot market is quiet / Producer reports low US Exports / EU export demand muted: source

The US Gulf Coast spot prices for styrene were stable during the week ending August 30, despite the fact that no trades had been observed. Sources also indicated that the US spot market is dead, and that exports are nonexistent. One source said, "There's no spot monomer available." Front-month spot price at $1.250/mt FOM and forward-month prices at 1,220/mt FOM, maintaining a $30/mt backwardation. A producer of monomer feedstock for styrene indicated that very little styrene was being exported from the US. They said that there was no demand for styrene exports and the demand for derivatives was low. Outages at styrene plants impacted the supply of styrene monmer in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
