Prices for polyol slabs and toluene-diisocyanate in the US fluctuated in the week ending September 20. Sources from TDI, polyether polyols, and the Federal Reserve, who cut interest rates on Sept. 19, the first time in four years, maintained that they believed polyurethane consumption would not improve until 2025. Source: "Even if housing and construction picks up, furniture -- which is the main use of derivative polyurethanes - is usually the last product to see an increase in interest," said a source. DAP US Slabstock Polyether Polyols, on Sept. 20 at 75 cents/lb. Sources report that demand remains weak. They say the "driving force" is a compromised supply.
