On May 18, Asian isomer grade mixed xylene
increased $21/mt from day to day, to $904.50/mt at FOB Korea; $927.50/mt at CFR
Unv1; and $14/mt for $922/mt in CFR China. This was due to the firmer crude and
news of the second refinery fire that occurred within the US week ending May
21. In the US
overnight, Valero reported an fire at its Corpus Christi refinery's West Plant
on May 17. Marathon reported an incident
at its Galveston Bay refinery on May 15. The
daytime bids for MX loads loading in the second part of June increased, while
