In California, prices for clear flakes of recycled polyethylene and pellets made from food-grade material saw a slight increase in the week ending June 12 amid signs that seasonal demand was increasing. The market is still not optimistic. "Demand has been higher this week but the change isn't too significant in comparison to last year," said a flake purchaser. Even if clear flake prices increase on the back of higher demand, companies will still choose to import recycled resin, or virgin resin, said a flake vendor.
