In the wake of signs that consumer demand is declining, prices for US recycled low density polyethylene fell by 1 cent/lb in the week ending August 14. Sources said that the slowdown in demand was to be expected as we approach the US elections. Consumer goods companies across the board have warned consumers to be cautious with their spending in the second half 2024 due to economic uncertainty. Consumer packaging is often made from recycled LDPE. Sources said that the demand could pick up within a few weeks due to the holiday season.
