US recycled HDPE: prices rise amid strong demand and lack of supply / Natural bales prices increase for the second consecutive week as demand increases / Price gap between natural and mixed-color bales increases

The spot prices of US recycled high density Polyethylene natural material increased in the week ending July 3. This was due to a strong buying interest and limited availability. Prices for mixed color material fell in the past week as sellers reported having trouble moving product. Recycling said that the demand and prices for natural bales were higher than expected. "We usually see material availability increase during the fall," added a recycler. Distributor echoed the sentiment that natural material is in short supply. "Materials recovery facilities don't produce a lot of bales so, when buyers are in need, like they are now, there isn't much to sell." A distributor said that "buyers are becoming more aggressive in order to secure natural materials, so prices will continue to rise in July."...
