US PP exports rise amid low offer activity / FAS Houston levels are at a 13-month high / Mexico is the largest consumer

Spot export polypropylene prices in the US rose $11/mt onJune 18 from June 12, with offers from producers heard thin as PP flows continued to regionalize. Repeatable indications of rail car value for homopoly mergrade were heard at 51 cents/lb, or $1,224/mt FAS Houston,June 13-18; the FAS assessment includes 4.50 cents/lb to coverthe costs associated with packaging and transport to ports forexport. Spot homopolymer-PP prices were in line with the indications heard on June 18th. Exports of copolymer PP were assessed at a 2-cent surcharge. US PP is in constant demand by Mexican and LatinAmerican customers, especially as ex-Asia shipping rates are increasing and making resins from that region uncompetitive compared with US material.
