US Polycarbonate Prices: 1 cent lower than last week on stable market / BPA prices fall $24/mt in a week / Automotive market declines strongly: Covestro

On July 31, the prices of extrusion and injection grades of polycarbonate were 89 cents/lb respectively and 94, both unchanged on the day but 1 cent lower on the week. BPA upstream was the main driver of this fall, dropping $24/mt in one week. Acetone and Phenol domestic prices were unchanged on a weekly basis. This assessment took into account information that US polycarbonate prices are $200-$250/mt higher than China CFR. The price of Chinese polycarbonate for extrusions and general-purpose grades rose $10 in one day to $1,820/mt et $1,810/mt, respectively. In its earnings call for Q2 on July 30, Covestro, a major PC producer, said that the polycarbonate market was stable.
