US MMA: Spot prices steady amid weak import demand heard / MMA import demand a 'weak' source / Rising container rates impact import demand

On June 26, spot prices for US methyl methacrylate were assessed as stable, despite domestic demand being perceived to be weak. This was due to rising container ratesand delayed lead times for bulk vessels. US spot MMA was stable at 143 cents/lb USG on June 26. A trader said that the spot price was last heard between 140 and 150 cents/lb. The source also said that "there won't be as much need for imports" with container rates increasing. According to a source on the market, competition between EU and US for availability of spot has increased, as Europeansellers compete with MMA imports from Asia at competitive prices. The sources said that there is not a large surplus in Asia. They're operating at low rates but there is some product available....
