US LLDPE: FAS Houston levels soften across grades on week / Butene, hexene, metallocene prices maintain consistent spread / Demand talked weak in global markets as supply remains abundant

Linear low density polyethylene prices on an FAS Houston basis fell $22/mt across grades in the week to July 31 amid talk of weakening fundamentals, as the market awaited newmonth offers. Rail car values for butene-grade LLDPE were heard incrementally lower July 25-31, with repeatable values heard at 44 cents/lb July 26-29 and notional values as low as 40 cents/lb on July 30. Metallocene-grade rail cars were also heard incrementally lower on July 30 at 44-45 cents/lb, compared with 46 cents/lb July 26-29. LLDPE hexene rail cars were consistently talked in a 43-45 cents/lb range in the week to July 31. Bids for the LLDPE grades have been $40-$50/mt lower in the last days of July compared with 10 days ago, one trader source said., part the three grades lower...
