US HDPE: Lower offers on blowmolding and film prices / Injection grade prices remain unchanged from previous week / Weak purchasing appetite in early September

US high-density Polyethylene prices were volatile week to week, Sept. 4, as new month offers were fragmented. During the first half of August 29 - September 4, spot export liquidity was low, as traders waited for producers to announce their September exports. By the end, traders and distributors reported that offers from producers had been divided into two groups. Some offered prices at the same level as in H2 of August and others offered prices that were 1-2 cents/lb (between $22 and $44/mt below H2 August). Rail car offers for HDPE injection were as high as $5/lb over previous-month spot prices.
