US Gulf Orthoxylene: September contract price plummets, spot prices rise / September OX CP settles to lowest point since 2024 / Spot OX prices increase 0.75 cent/lb in the past week

US spot orthoxylene prices were 0.75 cent/lb more expensive in the week ending Sept. 20, due to low spot activity, and increased bids on the upstream spot market for mixed xylene. On September 18, the contract price for OX settled at 48 cents/lb. This is 7 cents lower than last month. According to data, contract prices have fallen by 4,50 cents/lb or 9% in 2024, and are now at levels last seen in Febuary 2022. OX contracts are closely correlated with the feedstock mixed-xylene spot prices. US Customs data revealed that on September 9, 246,889 barrels MX from South Korea were imported to the US Gulf Coast. A source stated that MX imports could be used to create chemical outlets including PX extraction as the gasoline blending period is over....
