No bids or offers were heard on the market for prompt-benzene in Houston or the Lower Mississippi Region as of Sept. 20, with product due to be delivered through the end the month. A significant influx of benzene into the US Gulf Coast in August has caused a surplus that has continued through the month, and kept the market in a state of contango. Benzene to be delivered in October was priced at 319 cents/gal on Sept. 20. This is up by 1 cent from the previous day. The FOB benzene prices for November loading were 1 cent/gal more expensive than October loading. Bids for products delivering up to January were heard earlier in the week.
