US finds stable demand for AA, but supply issues in Europe and Asia / VAM down by $35/mt in the last week

US acetic acids prices rose in the week ending May 16, amid signs of stable supply and concerns about demand. US Gulf Coast Acetic Acid at $750/mt F.O.B. USG, May 16, an $8/mt increase on the previous week. This is in line with the price indications heard at this level and taking into account the rising European prices. Market sources reported that demand remained stable, but they hoped for an increase due to the beginning of the coatings & adhesives season in the Americas. The US delivered price for acetic was 34 cents/lb. This is up 0.69 cent/lb from the previous week. This reflects the movement on the export market.
