US Ethylene Glycols: Markets hold steady amid rising ethylene prices / Higher ethylene prices heard pressuring glycols higher / Asia's demand for polyester downstream is weak

US monoethylene and diethylene glycol prices remained stable in the week ending August 9, as markets waited to see how higher feedstock costs would affect the spot market. The rising ethylene price was said to be pushing glycols higher. On August 8, ethylene was 30 cents/lb FD Monte Belvieu, up 1.75 cents since Aug. 2. This is the highest price since June 2022. Choctaw spot ethylene was valued at 36.75 Cents/lb FD Choctaw on August 8, up 0.75 cents from the previous day. A trader said that MEG spot levels are "a little higher than 21 cents/lb USG" according to the trader. US spot MEG was stable at 21 cents/lb, FOB USG on August 9, pending confirmation of higher pricing. On the week, higher spot offers were heard for DEG....
