The US spot acrylonitrile price was down for the week endingJune 18, due to a downward trend in Europeanand Asian markets. The US spot acrylonitrile price dropped by $15 in the week ending June 18 to $1,375/mt, following the European market's decline of $15. The domestic ACN contract was valued at 69.25 cents/lb, unchanged from the previous week. The assessment wasbased on an industry-accepted formula, considering the 44.50cents/lb May chemical-grade propylene contract settlement, andthe ammonia contract price of $450/mt for May.Downstream, US acrylonitrile-butadienestyreneat 85.5 cents/lb delivered rail car basis June 18, stablefrom June 12, tracking the stability in upstream styrene spotpricing over the week to June 17.In wider market, the lack of competitiveness against Asiansectors pressured the prices down in Europe, despite seasonaldemand improvement.
