US Acrylonitrile: Prices rise amid stable demand / Spot ACN increases by $40 in a single week / Costs upstream are rising

US acrylonitrile contract and spot prices increased in the week ended July 30 due to rising upstream costs, and stable demand. US spot acrylonitrile was $1,400/mt FOM US Gulf on July 30, an increase of $40 over the previous week. This price is in line with a price indication heard above $1400/mt. Sources stated that prices were moving over $1,400/mt and stressed it "needs" to because cash costs are rising rapidly. Market participants also expect Far East exports will slow down, even though they increased earlier this year, when ACN feedstock costs dropped in the US.
