- Upstream crude drops $6.99/b- April: Styrene prices to rise

Sources said that benzene prices fell on
the European market due to lower upstream energy prices. Upstream, the ICE Brent crude oil
front-month swap was down $6.99 at $72.46/b at 4:30 PM London time. Downstream
of benzene and styrene, styrene markets firmed slightly on March 3 back trading. A trader
stated that thin activity was expected for March loading dates due to the
expected recovery in market prices for April. The trader
stated that stocks were plentiful but that there were not many imports.
This meant sellers were happy to sit tight.
