In the week ending July 31, the Turkish polystyrene industry was subdued as demand conditions remained soft and monomer prices increased. CFR Turkey's general purpose polystyrene price was up $10/mt from the previous week to $1,440/mt. The styrene market in Europe and Asia was a focus for polystyrene manufacturers as the prices soared during the week due to limited availability. FOB ARA styrene has increased in price by $251/mt compared to a week ago, according to data. Players have been waiting for the European contract price of styrene to be announced before making new offers. Demand was low in Turkey, as the wider economic downturn continued to affect the market.
