The Turkish polystyrene industry remained stable in the week ending on September 4, despite a lack of demand and a soft purchasing activity. CFR Turkey expanded polystyrene's spot price is $1,695/mt and stable for the week. The demand was low in the first days of September. Consumption levels in Turkey remained largely unchanged. Participants were waiting for the European styrene September contract price to decline. PS prices, however, did not respond to monomer price movements. The high interest rates in Turkey have affected trading activity. They have been at 50% for the past five months. In response, many market participants chose to save their money on high-return savings accounts as they deemed trading polymers more risky.
