Turkish Polyethylene: Markets Under Pressure amid Soft Demand / LDPE prices down $20/mt in a week / Demand is weakening amid economic challenges

The Turkish polyethylene industry was under pressure during the week of August 14 due to weak demand resulting from ongoing economic challenges. CFR Turkey's low-density film grade spot price is down $20/mt from the previous week to $1,200/mt. HDPE injection costs fell by the exact same amount this week. Turkey is still facing economic challenges. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, annual inflation rates reached 61.78% in August. The high inflation rate indicates that the Central Bank will not lower its headline rate of 50%, as announced by the Monetary Policy Committee on July 23.
