The Turkish polyethylene industry was under pressure during the week ending September 4, due to a lack of buying interest and high interest rates. CFR Turkey's low density polyethylene spot price is $1,160/mt. This is down $40 from the previous week. HDPE film prices, blowmolding and injection grades remained unchanged during the week. The demand for HDPE film, blowmolding, and injection grades remained stable during the week. This was due to the high interest rates set by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey at 50% as a reaction to the soaring prices, which had reached 51.97 percent annually in August according to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on September 3.
