ACN prices in Northeast Asia were impacted
in 2022 by a glut of supply and poor downstream demand. ACN producers reduced
their run rates or closed plants due to this. An increase in demand for
acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene and an easing supply glut due to the prolonged
production cuts lent some support to the ACN market in October 2022 before
prices fell again after plants restarted or increased run rates. Many producers
have since lowered rates in a bid to mitigate falling spot prices, while
restocking needs after the Lunar New Year and tighter spot supply lifted spot
