- Trading activity muted- MTBE oversupply expected in Singapore in May

Asian MTBE fell $18.29/mt day on day to
$923.71/mt FOB Singapore on April 27, tracking a drop in the Brent crude price
and because of weak demand. The June ICE Brent crude oil futures contract fell
$2.78/b day on day to $78.20/b on April 27. Trading activity has been muted in
Singapore in the week started April 24 as demand has weakened with lower Brent
crude prices and poor crack margins, a local trader said. Singapore could see
an MTBE oversupply for May loading due to cargo flows from China and the Middle
East, market sources said. Meanwhile, the Chinese domestic market was
relatively stable, a Chinese trader said, with domestic prices around Yuan
7,600-7,680/mt North China.
