Trade seen on the front-end Laycan / NYMEX June RBOB falls in day

Despite buying interest, the price of MTBE in the US fell by 1.04 cents in May despite a decline in the laycan. Enterprise sold 25,000 barrels MTBE in front-end laycan to Lyondell Basell at June RBOB minus 0.7 cents/gal. The bid rose to June RBOB + 4 cents/gal. Trafigura's offer of June RBOB plus 4 cents/gal remained static during the Market on Close process, and did not attract any buyers. The European MTBE price fell by $31 in one day due to lower offers. Market participants in Europe said that Asian cargoes arriving into Europe were making it hard for US MTBE to compete. They also indicated that the US MTBE arbitration to Europe had closed.
