On
May 19, the FOB Korea benzene mark rose by $4/mt due to a stronger buying
interest. The domestic China and CFR China markers, however, fell by Yuan
$35/mt and $8/mt respectively as a result of weak fundamentals. A deal for
the FOB Korean marker for July loading was closed at $870-890/mt. Two bids were
then heard at $871/mt, and $872/mt just before the closing. The buying
interest for cargoes loading in July increased, with many outright and floating
prices being indicated throughout the day. The downstream demand for
benzene remained subdued, as the operating rates of styrene-monomer plants in
