Asian Toluene prices slip amid thin-spot discussions / China inventory drops on week / China's Fuhaichuan closes its aromatics unit

The price of Asian toluene was lower on Nov. 8, amid a lack of spot-buy-sell discussions. FOB China was valued at $705/mt and CFR China $689/mt. During the Market on Close process, no transparent offers or bids were heard. Fuhaichuang, a Chinese plant, shut down its aromatics production on November 8 due to a reformer system failure. A source with knowledge of the situation said that the repairs and restarting of the plant may take "several" days. A second source said the restart was scheduled to take place five more days after the initial plan. The plant had a capacity of 1.6 million mt/y for paraxylene and 400,000 mt/y for toluene, as well as 300,000mt/y for benzene.
