Asian Toluene prices stable amid rangebound markets / Muted activity as a result of lack of direction from crude / China Inventory falls by week

The Asian toluene price was stable on Jan. 17 amid rangebound movements in crude oil and naphtha prices upstream and downstream, and benzene/paraxylene and benzene/paraxylene/benzene prices adjacent. Since Jan. 2, the indicator includes 2,000 mt - 3,000 mt of cargoes, and merchantable cargoes which do not incur additional duties. Market on Close assessment Jan. 17 did not include any transparent offers or bids. In the morning, a bid for second-half of February was heard at $800/mt. A bid for February was heard at the average-February-minus $6/mt. There were no trades. Industry sources reported that China's inventory of toluene was lower at both ports during the week ending Jan. 17.
