Asian Toluene prices move higher in adjacent markets / Chinese inventories are down this week / Naphtha C+F Japan marks up $11/mt in one day

Asian toluene was higher on May 17 as a result of the upstream naphtha prices and downstream benzene. There were few discussions during the week. No transparent offers or bids were made during the Market on Close process. The domestic market firmed up in the China ex tankerssupplies market earlier in the trading session, with the H2 June contract trading at Yuan 7,510/mt, according to sources. By the end of the session, Prompt and H2 May were being discussed at about Yuan 7,480/mt. In China, inventories were down for the week ending May 17. East China ports experienced a decrease of 9,800 mt to 55100 mt while south China inventory fell by 1,400 mtto 7500 mt on May 17.
