Asian Toluene: Prices firmer for South Korea-origin cargoes / Active buying and South Korea origin demand increases / China's inventories rose on the week

Asian toluene was mixed on Aug. 2. FOB Korea prices rose in line with downstream prices for benzene, while ex-tank prices from east China and crude futures were lower. toluene up $6/mt at $886/mt FOB Korea, $1/ mt above a bid last heard at $885/mt for a 2,000-mt cargo for any September loading on a letter-of-credit-at-sight basis. Before the bid was raised, a trade was done for the same cargo at $880/mt. After that, no other trade or seller was heard. Industry sources reported that the China toluene stock at both ports was higher in the week ending August 2. Market sources reported that stocks in the East rose by 1,300 mt, to 27,200 mt, on Aug. 2.
