Latin American Toluene/Xylenes Prices Rise for the First Time in Eight Weeks / Toluene rises $12; mixed xylenes increase $18 / US Fed lowers interest rates for first time since 2020

On Sept. 20, Latin American toluene was assessed at $805/mt F.O.B. Brazil, up $12 from the previous week. This is the first time that the price has risen in eight weeks. Latin American mixed-xylenes were also assessed at $694/mt, FOB Brazil. This is up $18 from previous assessments. US Gulf Coast prices rose by 4 cents per week for toluene, and 6 cents per week for MX. As market players watched energy prices, and digested that the US Federal Reserve had cut interest rates for the very first time since 2020, prices crept up.
