Asian Toluene: up $9-10/mt in a week amid rising crude
and US fires- Gasoline margins are firming- Indian buyers cautious about
outlookThe price of toluene FOB Korean rose by
$9/mt to $850/mt on May 19, despite improved gasoline margins. There were also
reports that demand from US buyers was picking up after two US refineries
suffered fires during the previous week. The benchmark RON 92 ICE Brent crude oil futures
versus RON 92 FOB Singapore gas cracks increased to $12.39/barrel on May 19, a
rise of 14.62% in one day. This may be a factor supporting toluene demand. Look at the
petrochemical spreads. Isomer-graded mixed xylene rose $9.50/mt in the past
week, to $904.50/mt, FOB Korea. The spread to toluene was $54.50/mt. Benzene
