The Asian toluene market was quiet on Jan. 31, with few discussions taking place, as many Asian markets were closed for Lunar New Year. The marker will be updated to include 2,000-3,000 mt and merchantable cargoes, which do not attract extra duties. This is effective Jan. 2. The Market on Close assessment was conducted on January 31. There were no transparent offers or bids. FOB China and Korea markers remained at $790/mt each, and the prompt ex tank east China supply market stayed at Yuan 6,555/mt. This is equivalent to $790.41/mt on import-parity. During the MOC there was a last-minute bid for 3,000 mt of any March FOB Korea at $774/mt, with a letter of credit in sight, but no offers.
