toluene prices rose on February 24, in line with the higher upstream naphtha. During
the Market on Close assessment, there were no transparent offers or bids. Sources
said that toluene supplies remained scarce. A producer stated that while
there is a shortage due to the low NCC operating rates, demand is also limited
because of the recession. According to industry sources, China inventories
dropped on the week, driving domestic prices higher. Sources added that
the inventories in east China fell by 11,100 mt from 65,500mt on Feb. 24, while
the south China inventories dropped 3,000 mt and 17,000 mt over this same time
