Thin spots discussions amid weak demand / Upstream benzene slightly softer; downstream nylon grades lower than last week

Prices for Asian caprolactams were down week-on-week, both CFR Far East Asia (Fear East Asia) and CFR Southeast Asia (Far Southeast Asia), by $20/mt each over the week ending April 25. This was due to a weaker demand as well as a lackluster discussion on spot prices. Trading sources reported that sellers were indicating lower prices despite the higher costs. A seller in Northeast Asia said that prices were likely $20-$40/mt less than they were in April. Meanwhile, a trader based in Southeast Asia stated that the prices are continuing to drop. Benzene prices remain relatively stable, even though crude oil is fluctuating. Caprolactam prices, however, are on the rise.
