- Thin liquidity despite Contract Settlement Window- Some interest in styrene heard after quiet month

The European benzene price fell on June 27
as the interest between buyers and vendors remained high and the market
remained backwardated. The
market was very thin, with no new trading after 11,000 mt were traded on June
23. This is despite the settlement window that continues for the contract price
of July. The forward delivery laycan for
five to 30 days was $901.50/mt CIF AAR, down by $1.25/mt. Styrene for downstream loading was traded on a daily basis
at $1,025/mt in the first half June. The
market was characterized by a lack of interest from buyers, with downstream
industries such as packaging and construction struggling.
