The Asian methanol markets were quiet on
June 13, due to the slowdown in demand in China, and delays in deliveries along
India's west coast caused by a cyclonic system. On June 13, the domestic
methanol price in East China recovered losses from the previous day. The price was Yuan 30-40/mt ($4-$5.50/mt), higher than the
previous day, at Yuan 2,030-2,045/mt. Market
sources reported that the offers for cargoes due to arrive in China in July
were $239/mt CFR China on June 13 - little changed from the previous day,
partly because of the weakening yuan versus the dollar. Data from the People's Bank of China shows that the Chinese
yuan has depreciated by 2.9% from May 12 up to 7.1498...
