Sources said that Asian benzene rose in price on May 10 due to news of plant shutdowns. Asian benzene was up $6/mt in the session to $1,042.67/mt F.O.B. Korea on May 10. The styrene CFR China mark was up $7/mt for the day, at $1145/mt. On the FOB Korea market, a deal between SKGC & TotalEnergies was reached for a 3,000 mt June cargo loading at $1,049.50/mt. As for floating price discussions on June cargoes, the premiums against the weekly mean of base price of June (wMOPK) remained above $20/mt. The highest bid was heard in the early trading sessions at the wMOPK plus $23/mt. CFR China made a single offer for a cargo arriving in July, with a premium $40/mt over the July wMOPK.
